  • DIAGNOSTIC MEDICAL SONOGRAPHY

Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ultrasound) is a medical technology using highly sophisticated, computer driven imaging devices to produce dynamic multi-dimensional visual images of organs, tissue and blood flow. As a radiation-free medical imaging modality, it provides important clinical information for the diagnosis and treatment of patients. Sonographers are part of a medical team, which includes physicians, nurses and other healthcare professionals who provide essential clinical information that is used to plan treatment and care for patients. There are several areas of specialization in the field of sonography which include obstetrics/gynecology, abdomen, echocardiography, breast and pediatric sonography. This technically challenging, patient focused field demands that sonographers demonstrate a high level of decision making, diagnostic responsibility and critical thinking skills. Sonographers have extensive direct patient contact which includes performing invasive procedures. They are expected to be both technically competent and compassionate while effectively dealing with patients who may range from very healthy to critically ill.

  • EMT

The EMT-Basic Program is designed to place qualified students who have not yet received their EMT certification on a direct path to become a Paramedic by first becoming an EMT. The program prepares students for their EMT-B New York State Practical and Written Exam, while simultaneously gaining valuable work experience as an EMT at affiliated clinical sites. Students are required to complete 250+ hours of rotations while in the EMT-Basic Program. Upon successful completion of the EMT program and by meeting the necessary requirements, graduates of CAHE's EMT Program gain acceptance into CAHE's 12-month Paramedic course.

  • MEDICAL ASSISTANT

The Medical Assistant Program prepares students to play a vital role in the daily operations of a healthcare office of all shapes and sizes. Working under the direct supervision of a doctor or licensed healthcare provider, Medical Assistants are typically needed in medical offices, diagnostic screening facilities, physical rehabilitation practices, nursing homes, colleges and universities, along with outpatient centers.

  • PARAMEDIC

Center for Allied Health Education’s Paramedic Program is an intensive, twelve-month course, leading to New York State Department of Health and New York City Regional Emergency Medical Advisory Committee certification as an emergency medical technician-paramedic. Upon successful completion of the program, students also receive BLS, ACLS and PALS and PHTLS certification. The course curriculum includes didactic work (lectures and labs) and clinical rotations.

  • RADIATION THERAPY

Radiation Therapy, one of the most sophisticated tools of modern medicine, plays a major role in the treatment of cancer. Over 50% of all cancer patients receive radiation therapy at some point during their treatment, and more than half of all radiotherapy patients are considered to be potentially curable.

  • RADIOGRAPHY

A rewarding career in healthcare awaits those who choose radiology as a profession. Radiographers, or radiologic technologists, have completed special training to produce images of organs, limbs and other parts of the body that doctors then use to diagnose and determine treatment plans for disease and injuries. Careers in radiography have become more and more diverse as the field of radiology has evolved from the discovery of the x-ray to complex and sophisticated scanning methods like magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and computed tomography (CT). As the technology has expanded, there has been an increasing need for highly trained men and women to fill the varied positions available to radiologic technologists.

  • SURGICAL TECHNOLOGY

The Surgical Technology Program prepares students to play a vital role in the operating room. Students are trained through didactic instruction and hands-on clinical experience to become crucial members of the surgical team. CAHE prepares students to work closely with surgeons, anesthesiologists, registered nurses and other surgical personnel.

  • CT REGISTRY PREP COURSE

The CT Registry Prep Course is a Part-Time, fifty-seven (57) hour regimen of didactic training for currently registered technologists, regardless of prior practice or educational experience. The program recognizes the importance of didactic training, as well as the satisfaction of clinical competencies needed to be eligible to sit for and successfully pass the ARRT CT certification exam. Uniquely, Center for Allied Health Education has put into place several clinical affiliations to easily enable its students to acquire some or all of the mandatory CT competencies to sit for the ARRT exam.

  • MRI REGISTRY PREP COURSE

The MRI Registry Prep Course is a part-time, ninety-nine (99) hour regimen of didactic training for currently registered technologists, regardless of prior practice or educational experience. MRI is a radiological discipline that demands extensive knowledge of cross-sectional anatomy and physics. The MRI program is designed to address that demand.
